HOME & CONTENT

Generally your Farmowners Insurance covers your home and its contents, your rentals or employee dwellings, detached garages. Coverage for your home and contents can be insured under Basic, Broad or Special causes of loss and can be given Replacement Cost or Actual Cash Value on the dwelling and/or contents-with Kiva we routinely recommend the best coverage: Special with Replacement Cost.

LIABILITY

The liability portion of your policy covers property and bodily injury expenses for others that you are deemed responsible for causing. It also includes completed products coverage for a defective commodity you introduce into the public such as hay, cotton, nuts, milk, fruits, vegetables, etc. Your coverage includes attorneys’ fees and costs to defend you, which can be among the most important aspect of this protection. Liability coverage for farm machinery and equipment is generally provided both on and off your premise.

FARM STRUCTURES

Your farm policy should cover loss or damage to buildings and structures used in your farming operations. This includes barns, confinement facilities, dairy parlors, silos, portable buildings, pens, chutes and corral fencing, building materials intended to be used on farm buildings, private telephone and electrical apparatus and irrigation equipment and so much more, since every farming operation is unique in itself.

BUSINESS & PERSONAL AUTO

Coverage for your commercial farm trucks and your personal automobiles can be added to your farm insurance package. Commercial farm automobile coverage provides physical damage coverage such as comprehensive and collision, as well as bodily injury and property damage liability coverage.

EQUIPMENT

Farm Personal Property coverages include items used in your farming operations, generally in three categories: Farm machinery and equipment, Livestock and Farm Products such as hay, grain, silage, animal feed, pesticides, fertilizers, etc. Most farm policies allow you to insure your Equipment and Farm Personal Property on either a scheduled or blanket basis: Scheduled property is listed by item individually on your policy, with a separate limit stated for each piece. Blanket coverage covers ALL equipment and farm personal property at the insureds farming operation location.

UMBRELLA

An Umbrella policy extends your liability protection over your Farmowners policy along with other liability policies such as business and personal auto, recreational vehicles, boats, etc.
